Valen remote monitoring made easy with Victron Cerbo GX

Remote monitoring made easy

Remote Monitoring made easy with the Victron Cerbo GX.

Everyone wants remote monitoring on their solar installation. However, it can be costly and complicated, turning people back to manual site visits to check the system’s vitals.

As this has been the norm for so long, we accept the costs of regular maintenance or site checks, not considering how inefficient this is. At Valen, we aim to save our clients money on those hidden costs and improve return on investment and profits.

This blog covers how remote monitoring can be made easy by using the Victron setup.

Victron Cerbo GX

The Victron Cerbo GX sits at the heart of your energy installation and becomes the communication centre. Allowing you to have perfect control over your solar system from wherever you are and maximising the system’s performance.

What does the Victron Cerbo GX provide?

  • Monitors the battery state of charge, power consumption, power harvest from PV / generator and mains or check tank levels and or temperature measurements
  • Control the power input, auto start or stop of the generator or can change any settings on the system
  • Follow up alerts, diagnostic checks and resolve challenges remotely

How to monitor your solar installation?

The Victron Cerbo GX device connects through wifi and if the site doesn’t have this available, all that is required is a prepaid 5G setup.

Simply connect through the Victron Remote Management (VRM) portal or the Victron Connect app with its Bluetooth capability.

For remote installations – even when there is no internet connection nearby – you may be able to monitor your MPPT by connecting the GlobalLink 520.

You can also jump on to the Victron Remote Monitoring Portal and set up your own trial site before installing your solar installation.

Mounting and installation

The Victron Cerbo GX is easily mountable on a DIN-Rail, and its separate touchscreen can be bolted on top of a dashboard.

This is connected with just one cable taking away the hassle of having to bring many wires to a dashboard.

Also with the new Bluetooth feature enables a quick connection and configuration via the VictronConnect App.

Victron Cerbo GX Applications

The Victron Cerbo GX control unit serves endless purposes, extending perfect control to the most diverse applications. some include;

  • Solutions include generators such as Marine or Off-grid & backup. Cerbo GX will auto-start/ stop your generator, or delay ignition until the end of ‘quiet’ periods.
  • Energy storage systems – Cerbo GX will keep backup batteries at 100%, kicks in during power cuts and divert excess solar power to self-consumption, saving you money.
