Husqvarna wanted to bring robotic mowing to cemeteries, golf courses and wineries, but the need for a 240V charge station was holding property managers back. Valen Power designed a turnkey solar charging kit that is carried to site, installed without heavy machinery and ordered under a single part number.

Discover

The client

Driven by a passion for innovation since 1689, Husqvarna supplies professional forest, park and garden products. The company set out to expand its robotic lawn mowing offer across commercial and residential properties, including larger special-use sites.

The challenge

Cemeteries, golf courses and wineries are exactly the kind of large, open grounds where autonomous mowing makes sense. The sticking point was power. A robotic mower needs a charge station, and a conventional charge station runs on 240V mains.

Getting mains power to a charge station in the middle of a property means ground penetration and new power lines. For property managers, that meant cost, disruption and approvals before a single mower could start work. Many turned the solution down for that reason alone.

The goal

Husqvarna needed a way to charge its mowers anywhere on a property, with no trenching and no mains connection, packaged so it could be specified and ordered as easily as the mower itself.

Design

Valen Power engineered a complete solar charging kit around the mower’s charging needs. Solar panels harvest energy during the day, a lithium battery stores it, and an inverter supplies the charge station, so the mower can charge whenever it needs to.

  • Valen ENLiFEN 24V 100Ah lithium battery for reliable stored energy, protected by its built-in battery management system
  • Two 300W Valen solar panels to recharge the battery
  • Victron SmartSolar MPPT charge controller to get the most from the panels
  • Victron Phoenix inverter to power the mower’s charge station
  • An enclosure housing the battery and inverter, keeping the electronics protected outdoors

Portability shaped every decision. The kit had to be light and compact enough to carry to site and install by hand. The full system was also bundled under a single part number, so Husqvarna and its dealers can order and reorder a tested kit without specifying individual components.

Deliver

Because the kit is carried to site and installed without heavy machinery, there is no excavation, and no power lines to run back to a switchboard. The charging station can go wherever the mowing is needed, including locations far from existing infrastructure.

Support

The outcome

Property owners and managers of larger commercial and special-use properties now have a tested automated mowing system they can order simply. The biggest barrier to adoption, the 240V charge station, has been removed.

  • No ground penetration or new power lines, avoiding the cost and disruption of trenching
  • Mowers charge from the sun, with no mains electricity used
  • Charge stations can be placed where they suit the property, not where the power is
  • A single part number makes the kit easy to quote, order and reorder
Beyond mowing

The same approach works for any small, remote load that needs dependable power without a grid connection. Pairing ENLiFEN lithium storage with solar and quality power electronics in one portable, pre-engineered kit is how Valen Power helps customers put equipment exactly where it is needed.
