What is the 48 V front terminal battery?
It is the ENLiFEN 48 V 75 Ah lithium front terminal pack (ELFT4875322), a LiFePOâ‚„ battery in a front terminal format, 530 mm long (560 mm including handles) × 125 mm × 330 mm, 34 kg, M8 terminals, rated at 6,000 cycles to 80% depth of discharge.
It exists because some applications need a 48 V bus in a front terminal footprint rather than four 12 V monoblocs in series. The advantages over a series string of four 12 V batteries:
- One battery management system, rather than four independent units with no cell-level balancing between them
- A single set of connections, rather than three inter-unit links
- One third of the weight of an equivalent VRLA arrangement
- Thousands of cycles rather than hundreds
