ModX2 is supplied with monitoring through the Victron VRM portal, factory configured before dispatch. You get remote visibility of solar generation, battery state of charge, load, alarms and system events, over Modbus TCP/IP, Ethernet and a mobile app. Modbus TCP/IP integrates into an existing SCADA or network management system. The browser portal suits sites where SCADA integration is not wanted.
The operational case for monitoring on a remote site is straightforward truck-roll economics: a fault you can diagnose remotely is a scheduled visit with the right part, and a fault you cannot is two visits, one to find out what happened and one to fix it. On a site with a four-hour drive each way, that difference is the entire monitoring cost in a single event.
There is a second, less obvious argument that carries real weight with asset owners. Many battery warranties require evidence that the battery was operated within a controlled charge regime. Manufacturers commonly require proof that DC cells were operated in a controlled regime to honour warranty claims. Monitoring data is not just diagnostics; it is the evidence file for a future claim.
